Sunday Afternoon Game Session (A Bust)

Apr 14, 2013 20:49

Well, the gaming session was a pretty bad fiasco.

I've just finished cleaning up the dishes from supper, and have calmed down a bit.

Where to start?

Well, I guess it started when spross showed up very late with lunch for the two of us, and Tammy took a bit of a fit about the whole matter, which threw the mood of the game off right from the start. 'Nuff said about that.

I had figured that character generation would be wrapped up in about two hours, and the rest of the time would be spent going through some game mechanic and rules samples as well as some combat samples, so that I could run a full, 4-hour session of the playtest of the a|state scenario for CanGames (which will be in mid-May). Silly me.

Right off the bat, when we started to continue character generation for the a|state RPG system, spross made it abundantly clear that he wasn't looking forward to it and just wanted it to be over, a sure sign that he's not happy with his character or that he's not happy with the character generation system, but more usually that he's got a problem with the concept, continuity, and nature of the character. Needless to say, the next four hours were spent with an exceedingly frustrated (and annoyed) spross and by the time the session ended we had managed to do some samples of character creation and had even managed some combat samples as well.

That said, it was one of the most frustrating, annoying character generation sessions I've ever done (the previous one also being one of them), and my state of health did not add to this occasion. I was actually glad when it was over, and to be honest, this session convinced me that the a|state RPG is likely not the right one for the Sunday gaming group.

Anyway, 'nuff said about Sunday's game session. :(
