Pain Thresholds, Lack Thereof

Jul 25, 2007 22:01

Got a call this evening from my friend, Tammy.

I knew that she was having the surgery for ingrown toe nails done on both her big toes this week, but I had thought it was being done today. Turns out the surgery was done yesterday (Tuesday), and she's recovering at home quite nicely. She mentioned to me that she's not in any real pain, and I came to realise that I truly hate people who have such a high pain threshold. You see, I'm not one of those people...

Back in 2004, I had the same surgery done on the big toe of my right foot - the foot that I drive with, of course - but had the added complication of having to fix the bone spur as well. At the time, there was no way to know if I had type 2 diabetes or not, since I was still undiagnosed with it, but I took almost a month to recover from the surgery, and was in serious pain from the operation for most of the month. Like I said, low pain threshold. :(

Anyway, like I said, Tammy's recovering at home and working from home, and I'll likely talk to her again during the week, but I just want to wish her a good recovery, and if she's reading this: I hates you for your pain tolerance!! :)

Get well soon. :)

personal, pain tolerance
