Purging and Selling RPGs

Jan 18, 2011 10:09

A large chunk of Sunday afternoon was spent taking care of some roleplaying game business at my place.

One of the things I've promised myself as a New Year's resolution is to cut down on both the number of games that I run during the course of the year, as well as sell off some of the rpgs that I really just don't want any more. This is complicated by the fact that I am somewhat of a pack rat (or is that packrat, one word?).

In any event, the process kicked off on Sunday, as with the assistance of spross I started to get rid of rpgs, packing them up in a box or two so as to sell them off this year at CanGames.

There are certain roleplaying games that I am definitely not getting rid of - my collection of stuff for DragonQuest, Universe, SkyRealms of Jorune, Ringworld, and a few others that are parts of my rpg life over the years - but other stuff has had its time, and time to go. Some of the stuff I'll be selling at CanGames include extra copies of some of the stuff for Hollow Earth Expedition, extra copies of Atomic Highway and Irradiated Freaks (I've still got two of each of these), my GOO Tekumel RPG as well as a whole batch of Tekumel resource books and material that I've purchased over the years, Barbarians of Lemuria, ICONS (two copies), and a whole whack load of other rpgs and stuff.

While I don't expect to make a lot of money at CanGames on some of this gaming stuff, it would be nice to be able to sell it there and make a bit of pin money that I can use for other stuff (like GenCon, perhaps) or to pay off some of the debts that I still have from the flood of 2009. This one will be the biggest purging of roleplaying games that I've done in at least 12 years or so, but... I'll be sorry to see these games and stuff go, but to be honest sacrifices need to be made, and bookshelf and cupboard space needs to be made available.
