Fell Down the Stairs

Well, it had to happen at some point given everything...but still...

After coming home from my footcare appointment yesterday (Wednesday), I was going about stuff as per usual at the house. I went down to the basement level of the townhouse, and at the bottom of the stairs my right leg gave out on me and I took a tumble. I bounced off three stairs, and hit my lower left back and my butt/rear end on the stairs...hard. Needless to say, I felt badly hurt. The pain was severe, the shock from the pain wasn't good, and I just lay there for a few minutes and just tried not to scream. After another few minutes, as the pain receded somewhat, I checked to make sure nothing was broken, and then levered myself off the floor and stairs. The pain was pretty bad, notably in my left butt/rear end, but I felt relatively all right.

Anyway, to make a long story short, it's now Thursday afternoon and I'm hurting pretty badly in the lower left back and my rear end, though there's no bruising. Movement is not great, can't carry much in either arm without pain in the back, sitting hurts (but more from the butt than the lower back), and I can see and feel that I'm swollen on both parts of the body there. Am applying cold compresses to the affected regions, taking some Tylenol for the pain when it's really bad, and am taking an anti-inflammatory medication that I keep for these occasions.

I'm all right, though still a bit shaken by the experience; I know it could have been worse. No, I didn't go to the doctor or the hospital or anything, but am taking it relatively easy, lying down when I feel that I need to, and just making the best of my current health situation, now aggravated by this fall down the stairs.

anti-inflammatory, fell down, rear end, pain, personal, health hut, butt, lower back, medications
