It is a new month. November.
Or
Movember, as it's also known, since a lot of men grow moustaches for the month as a means of supporting prostate cancer research (which is near and dear to my heart these days) and the like. (Since I have a moustache already, I guess I can just let it grow a bit longer, right? :) )
Once more, October is a month that I'm glad to see the back of, and I suspect pretty much everyone is. This was a month that saw the COVID-19 non-pandemic continue with a bit of a resurgence, the start of the end-of-the-year flu season (which was not helped by the fluctuation in temperatures), the prevalence of RSV (the respiratory illness that strikes primarily children and older adults, and lots of natural disasters in various parts of the world. Throw in the terrorism and violence in the Middle East, the conflict between Hamas and Israel, and the continuing violence in Ukraine, and add the political situations in various major countries of the world (including Canada and the United States) these days, and well... the world is a mess right now.
I've spent much of October sick with various ailments. Between my diabetes, some of the medical conditions that go along with it, the lingering effects of the concussion I suffered a couple of months ago, the stress I'm dealing with from some stuff that I'm not going to go into here, I'm something of a physical mess at the moment. Allergies were also still a bit of an issue, as October was a warmer month than expected, and the Air Quality Index has not been good either. Add to that the side effects of the flu shot and the COVID-19 vaccine I had this past weekend, and... let's just say I'm feeling under the weather and leave it at that. Just a rough October health-wise.
As for November, well there's not a lot going on. I don't have any doctor appointments in November for the moment, though I do have a footcare appointment near the end of the month. I've still got to schedule a colonoscopy, but that's got to wait until I buy the toilet that I need for the upstairs of the house. (That project has been complicated by a couple of financial issues that the fellow helping me out with this is dealing with right now, and I'm working on that, but it's taking time to get a decently favourable deal, and there's the other complications involved, so...) I'm just going to try and take the month day-by-day if possible, am going to try and relax and not stress over stuff as much as I can. And I'm going to find one positive thing every day, even if it's just a small thing, so that I don't fall into a state of total despair with all the personal and world shite going on.
While I was planning to game as much as possible with the Friday night and Sunday afternoon groups, running the games of course, winter is coming and that will wreak havoc on the gaming schedule for both groups. Both sets of players have expressed interest in the possibility of taking three months off from gaming over the worst of the winter for a variety of reasons, and while that may happen I'm kind of a little upset that I may not game at what is, for me, the most depressing period of the year. That said, I'm looking forward to getting in whatever gaming I can this month. It's important to get as much gaming in as possible during November as the winter months will likely bring a lot of weather that prevents gaming. So I'll see how that goes. Speaking of, I'm also hoping that Old Man Winter decides to hold off somewhat in regards to the white stuff. I'd really appreciate that.
But for now, a nice cup of hot tea.
