We continue on today with #RPGaDay2024 for August.
Day 16 - Quick to learn
I suspect that there are numerous games, many by small press publishers, that fit the prompt for the day.
For myself, I would have to say it's a toss-up between the
Doctor Who Roleplaying Game from Cubicle Seven and the
Rivers of London: The Roleplaying Game from Chaosium, Inc.. Both games are complete game systems and rules in one book, and both games use a very simple set of mechanics that are really easy to learn. While the use of Story Points in the former and Luck Points in the latter may add to the complexity of the game, this is more along the lines of learning how to use the points economically - and that usually can't be taught but learned through experience. Most importantly, both games offer rules that are concise for the most part and that have internal consistency. Furthermore, both games offer pre-generated characters, dice, maps, and some other good stuff.
And there you have it, my thoughts on this sixteenth day of #RPGaDay for August, 2024.
Comments, thoughts, questions, etc. are all welcome, of course. :)
