Since I know that a lot of my gaming friends and peeps are going to this year's
GenCon 2024, and will be heading out sooner rather than later, I want to wish all of you a very happy GenCon.
Be safe, be healthy, be happy, have good gaming experiences, don't go too crazy in the dealer's room, have more good gaming experiences, and don't forget to blog and post pics and all that good stuff. Oh, and remember not to come home with con crud or COVID-19! :)
Speaking of con crud and COVID-19... I'm still not sure it's wise for the convention organisers in Indianapolis to go ahead with the convention (regardless of what folks are being told about the not-a-pandemic), but I understand that the gaming companies' personnel and that gamers want to go back to a relatively normal life and this includes going to conventions such as GenCon with over 40,000 people present. So all I can add here is that I hope folks are careful and take precautions as they feel is best. Better to come home with con crud than COVID-19, but better to come home with neither! So be careful! :)
While I am totally envious of you guys and gals, I'm not sorry that I'm not going this year (and likely never will again). No hassles with gaming schedules, air flights, hotel accommodation, the poor Canadian dollar, and various other aspects that I would have stressed over. Not to mention my general and specific health concerns that are ongoing at the moment. And we won't talk about the financial costs of going to the convention.
Anyway, to all the folks going to
GenCon 2024 this year, be *very*, very safe and healthy. But still have fun! :)
