We continue on with #RPGaDay2020 in August.
Day 25 - Lever
Nothing really comes to mind about today's prompt word, so a random thought or three...
Levers in roleplaying games tend to be classic means of having stuff happpened. They are one of the most ancient traditions in roleplaying game, as they were first seen in classic D&D and were primarily set up to be traps, but they have evolved into something else as gaming has developed and progressed. But still... Put a lever of some sort in a room, be it down in a dungeon, in an airy room at the highest level of a tower, in a massive boulder in a forest...and watch the fun start. The players and their characters will spend huge amounts of time studying it, trying to work out how the lever works and what it does. But one thing is certain: eventually, someone is going to pull that lever! Let's be honest here - without exception, every player has, at some point in their adventurering career, had their character pull a lever they should not have.
And with that said, remember this: Without the right fulcrum a lever is just a stick.
And there you have this twenty-fifth post for this #RPGaDay for August, 2020. Comments, thoughts, questions, etc. are all welcome, of course. :)
