Recap of Monday's Fun

Tuesday morning. A cool day here in Ottawa, with some sun and rain in the forecast. Pretty typical for an early June morning, actually.

It is with great relief today that I note that I am working from home. My plan from yesterday worked out quite well (see this entry for what I'm referring to), and I've been allowed to take off time and work from home until my back is recovered.

After getting off work yesterday, I decided to kill two birds with one stone, and went over to the Riverside Hospital. I needed to get blood work done for the doctor's appointment that's coming up on the 15th of the month, and also needed to get the letter from the Diabetes Clinic that allows me to take insulin, needles, some food, etc. on planes and with me when I travel to Indianapolis for GenCon in late July. The tests were a bit of a surprise, as there are so many of them being run that they took sixteen (!!) vials of blood from me, and had me deliver two samples of urine in the little plastic cups for the tests. The good news is that I've got minimal bruising on my arm from the needle ::knock on wood::, and though I was feeling woozy and hazy yesterday after the tests (the nurse there suggested that I have at least 6 ozs. of protein after leaving the hospital), didn't feel much worse than I have been of late. At the Diabetes Clinic, I managed to obtain the letter without any hassles, and then headed out.

I went to Kelsey's for lunch, and had myself a decent steak with a salad, and felt much better within about half an hour of eating. My sciatica was really bothering at that point, so rather than stop off somewhere for some grocery shopping, I headed for home and spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and watching some Unforgettable on DVD. Fell asleep several times, too.

I ate a good supper of broiled haddock and a side salad, with some lentils and feta cheese, and then just vegged out for the rest of the evening, changing the bed linens and putting a load of laundry on to wash.

Woke up this morning feeling a bit drained (what a surprise!) and the sciatica hurting quite a bit, but don't feel as badly as I have the last six days or so, so that's a good change. Working from home today, so hoping to minimise the back and bulging disc problems for the day. We'll see how that goes.

unforgettable, dvd, diabetes, bulging disc, tests, work, convention, blood tests, home, housework, health hut, personal, office, tv hut, lunch, hospital, food hut, back pain, laundry, sciatica, gencon
