As noted in the previous entry, Friday night's game of the Abney Park's Airship Pirates game was called off for various reasons. However, last night (Saturday), I played a self-contained, one-shot adventure of the game with Kathy and my goddaughter, Ellie. I like the in media res you start off with, a do or die situation and then fade back to two days prior. A classic tv intro! Nice jorb. ;)

Looks like it was one hell of a session with the two of them and I love the way the story unraveled... good stuff!

This was one of the most fun sessions I've run in a long time, and one of the easiest. The two players really made this happen with the way they worked off each other, and the way they played the two characters.

I rarely start off games in media res because they're so hard to pull off. So it was nice to do that in the two-player game. Tougher I think with four to six players.

It sounded like a fun session, loved the way it ended as well. You got the gift of great storytelling, my friend.

Trust me, Tim, I needed a fun session like this at the moment. In so many ways, I think I was surprised at how well the game session actually went!

As for the storytelling gift, I don't know... I find that a good story comes from the GM's basic ideas mixed with the players and their characters taking the adventure into their own hands once you give them the hook and the rope. But I find that roleplaying is much more prevalent in smaller parties, 'cause there's less people to have focus on, so the players do a lot more interacting, I find. :)

Also helps when the players are into it as well. ;)
