S and I finally sat down and watched both eps of Doctor Who. We give it an enthusiastic two thumbs up. S is a big sci-fi fan anyway, and I knew the premise would appeal to him. As for me, it's only the occasional sci-fi that I find appealing, and I think this will be the latest. It doesn't hurt that I've liked Christopher Eccleston since Shallow Grave. I think he's the perfect mixture of dashing and mysterious, with a fair bit of goofiness thrown in for good measure. Like a futurisic, time-traveling, British Indiana Jones.
My mom used to watch older DW episodes on PBS, so I vaguely recall bits and pieces of the show and its basic premise, but I'm pretty much starting at square one, so I'll be learning along the way. I like that it's got humor as well as all the trippy sci-fi-iness (this seems to be the type of sci-fi that appeals to me most. Firefly is another good example).
OMG, during "The End of the World," when Cassandra pulled out the 'iPod' and then started playing "Tainted Love"? I died. So. FUNNY.
You know what else is funny, alto2? Every time you would use your 'Girls kick ass' icon, I would think, 'Wow, that girl looks like Billie Piper. But Billie Piper's not an actress, so never mind.' Hee!
