Mos Def as Ford Prefect? Okay, I didn't think he was black, but that could work.

I was hoping he'd do a British accent, but now that I think of it, it'll be easy for him to not have to. Betelgeuse isn't necessarily part of the British Empire, right? ;-) I saw him in 'The Italian Job' and liked him a lot, so I have high hopes.

Martin Freeman as Arthur, and Zooey as Trillian (they spelled it wrong in the article) is perfect!

I agree! I love 'The Office' and he was so cute and Arthur Dent-ish in 'Love, Actually'; I think he's a great choice. Zooey Deschanel is also very cool. I sort of pictured someone more Rachel Weisz-ish, but I think she'll work really well. Besides, *anyone* would be an improvement over that flaky blond with the helium voice they used in the original series! *So* not right for Trillian!

I'm really curious how they do Zaphod's two heads and if they do Marvin as CGI or an actual robot.Personally I hope they use as little CGI as possible, although perhaps that would look best for Zaphod's second head. Marvin is ( ... )

I have yet to see the cheesy 70s version or hear the radio version.

I haven't heard the radio version, either, but I cannot recommend the cheesy 70s version highly enough. It's not bad by any means, and they're incredibly loyal to the books; they're just so CHEESY! The 'special effects' are hilarious, and Zaphod's second head...well, just check out my icon :) It's laughable in many ways, but again--Loyal to the book and completely enjoyable. My dad's always been a fan, so it's the only version I've ever known and it's close to my heart. You can probably find it just about anywhere. You should check it out. And it's pretty long, at least 3 or 4 hours, I think, so it's just a lot of fun.

I never pictured Marvin small, either, so I'm not sure how that will work. I don't always have a lot of faith in Disney, so I really hope they pull this off right. There are a lot of fans out there who could easily pull a Tolkien-fanboy-type hissy on them.

It's so cool to find someone else who loves the books.

I swear, I didn't mean to! If I promise to work some more on the Rogue fic that I've left languishing on the computer, will that help? :)

You're writing a Rogue fic? I'll stop using this icon if you finish it and I can see :)

What? Wait...What?!

That is not how Marvin is supposed to look! They are Disney-fying it already?!

Ooh, A Girl of the Limberlost! I remember reading that when I was a kid; I might still have it buried in my bookcase somewhere...

It's such a good book. I read it years ago, and then ordered it off Amazon recently. It just came in, so I read it cover to cover again, and still loved it. I love old-fashioned stories like that.
