Repair man came and the refrigerator is working again. I was right: Mice had chewed through the cord. (I'm psychic! I rule! Except this sucks, so not.) Of course this wasn't covered by our warranty, so $92 for labor, and...TEN BUCKS for a new cord. I repeat: Being a grown-up. SUCKS.
Y&R was cheese-tastic and awesome today. Once I saw the synospis, "Cassie leads Nick on a Dickensian journey through what might-have-been," I was all, 'Aw yeah! Bring on the schmaltz!' But despite a couple cheesy moments, I thought they did a pretty great job.
When Cassie and Nick went wandering through alterna-GC, I thought, 'Wow, so Nick had the power to make everyone in Genoa City happy. If he had only known!' I thought it was nifty that the Y&R folks turned that on its head and addressed the fact that um, no, Nick does not have that kind of power. Yes, he made a decision that had awful repercussions, but he is not responsible for everyone's misery and the bad decisions they have made.
It has to be the best soap out there. I'm just sayin'.
I see that the Cars are touring with Todd Rundgren as lead. I like Todd Rundgren and all, but I know Ric Ocasek, and you sir, are no Ric Ocasek. (I am probably betraying my punk street cred by saying so. Back in the day, Todd Rundgren was big in the NY punk scene. [Him and Liv Tyler's skeezy mother. Sorry, Liv, love you, but your mom is ew.])
I have been watching some of VH1's "We Are the 80s," and it totally gives me warm fuzzies. I love 80s videos! They all had either that sharp, fluorescent lighting, or that soft, warm, fuzzy glow. Eighties videos are just the best. Like, I saw Madness's video for "It Must Be Love." A guy dressed up in a bumble-bee costume! A giant chicken falling from the sky! Singing over an open grave!
