In response to http://jjustsurrender.livejournal.com/73424.html

I have to say that I STRONGELY disagree with most of what you said involving the LiveJournal staff and their decision to discontinue the Basic Accounts for new users.

For one, the LJ staff isn't insulting anyone by telling its users that changes was inevitable. It was a simple reminder to justify their actions.

I do believe that the staff do respect the values and legacy and, chances are, they probably know what these are considering that this is their business which they run. And most of them have personal journals as well. It's not the RUSSIANS that see LiveJournal as a business opportunity. LiveJournal IS a business and, in turn, offers opportunities. Russians don't deserve to be discriminated against just because Basic Accounts were taken away. Okay, wtf?

And nothing in this situation could even COMPARE to Hitler and the reign of the Nazis. How do you even see a parallel between the two? Hitler was a dictator who killed millions of innocent people. LiveJournal took away basic accounts. How are they ANYTHING alike? Moreover, if this were a communist website, there would be no paid accounts vs. plus accounts. Everyone would have the same account.

LiveJournal is a business. If LiveJournal wants to take away the basic account, it is obviously a business decision. This is what the staff has clearly admitted in this note. The staff took away Basic Accounts in order to raise a profit as, once again noted, LiveJournal Inc is a business, created to make a profit. This doesn't make someone a dumbass. LiveJournal has no reason to surrender.

LiveJournal is not treating anyone like two year olds. You, however, are acting like a two year old. LiveJournal is not LYING. They made a business decision and you, as a user, should respect their changes because, in the end, this is their business.

There is no connection between Stalin and LiveJournal either. Simply because LiveJournal places ads (AS A BUSINESS) doesn't mean their demolishing any type of culture. The business is still about its users but this doesn't mean that the staff shouldn't deserve more pay for their hard work and dedication.

Why don't you take your business elsewhere because you're unnaturally pissed off. Honestly, LiveJournal doesn't need people like you who don't support the staff in their decisions.

I, too, was shocked at the removal of Basic Accounts and I can't say that I'm too satisfied with the decision either; but I respect the changes. If you really want to have Basic Accounts back, why don't you buy a Paid Account. If everyone could just pay the $25 for a Paid Account, then the staff might be able to afford to return the Basic Accounts.

Oh well. :/ It's my opinion.
Also, I don't want to buy a Paid Account because I don't want to fund a site that's going downhill anyways.

Also, how did you read that anyway? It's locked. Friends only. 0.o

I'm sorry you think LiveJournal is going downhill. I think otherwise. I believe in LiveJournal's ability to run themselves and I hope that LiveJournal stays alive for as long as possible because I really enjoy the community that the business has created.

I'm on your friends list.

Oh, that's a relief. I thought someone hacked my account.
