To start off this blog, I'll give my update on ArmadilloCon 30. This year was my second to assist. I was in charge of the Program/Souvenir Book. I also had the chance to be on a panel, which was fun ( Read more... )

For Don Webb, you could read his novel The Double: An Investigation (currently available for $.02 used from Amazon) or one his collections like A Spell for the Fulfillment of Desire or When They Came.

I'll order one and let you know what I think! I'll probably start with a collection.

Loved the comments from John Scalzi on “The Power of Suck” for writers talk. I feel so vindicated! I have one of his older books, THE ANDROID'S DREAM. I shall have to see if it indeed sucketh or if he rose above the vacuum pit of "I really worked hard on this" which I seem to flouder about in quite a bit. Either way, magnificent failure or stupendous success are both okay by me.

Glad to see you hanging out and reporting here. It's a good way for us to stay in touch with each other's lives. Yea for journaling/blogging (sounds so mundane, that latter word)!

Scalzi's earliest novel, Agent to the Stars, was written entirely as an exercise, with no plans to publish it. It also allowed him to avoid going to a high school reunion without having started on that novel he had talked about.

Yea for staying connected with you! :-)

Geez, and he got that first novel published!

Ditto on staying connected. I've been so happy to see you around Club 100 and getting back to writing again. The world needs your unique voice! You write a novel and world peace will break out, I'm certain of it. :-)

Scalzi's first novel didn't get published until after #2 had been published and was successful. So don't feel discouraged about your practice work.

I probably have much more practice work ahead of me!

As to world peace, hmm.... I'll certainly try!

Now, what will happen when Redd's first novel gets published? I suspect some some serious partying (though if you want world peace I'll stand for that).

I apologize for the error. It has been corrected.

By the way, your story in the current F&SF is excellent.

"Liked" is too moderate a word. I love that story. I put a note about it in this month's FACT Sheet (the newsletter for the group that sponsors ArmadilloCon). Keep up the great work.

And congratulations on also having a story in Asimov's!
