Clubbed to Death

If I ever go beyond the Veil and you want to get me back, all you have to do is play me the instrumental version of Rob Dougan's "I'm Not Driving Anymore" with the loudest sound system you can get your hands on. I'll come rushing back through without any hesitation.

Today was kind of a weird day. This morning I watched two episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series (one of them called 'Spock's Brain', where aliens steal, well, Spock's brain) and I got completely distracted by the Kirk/Spock love. And I remembered that last night, I feel asleep watching Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (a good movie, but I was really sleepy) and I woke up in enough time to see the end, where Kirk goes to embrace Spock and Spock admonishes him, saying, "Captain. Not in front of the Klingons."

And then I spent the rest of the day doing laundry and other fantastic house cleaning things while plotting out this Trinity/Niobe story which centers on their mutual love for Morpheus.

Lately, all of my creative energy seems to be going toward coming up with new stories, and they're exciting and all, but it means that I'm practically schizophrenic when I try to sit down and write; I can't just work on one story at a time, and forget about actually finishing anything.

Does this happen to you? What's your best advice? How do I stop myself from getting tempted by the Shiny New Story?

in search of a master narrative, whatever remains however improbable, the needs of the many
