FYI

As you may already know, my wife has a real gift for movie summaries. Most of the time, she sees a very different movie than the rest of us see, as evidenced by her various re-tellings of what she believes happens in Wrath of Khan. So of course, after we saw Star Trek Into Darkness, I was very anxious to hear her recap. Here are the highlights:

When I asked what happened, she said only, "They're all killed by Sherlock, including Kirk's fake dad and his replacement fake dad, and then Kirk yells 'Khaaaaaan' except he doesn't know it's his name yet." That's.....really only the first 20 minutes or so, so when I asked for elaboration, K offered a few hints into what she watched, including Kirk being stupid, Khan wanting the torpedoes because "his dead friends are in there," and Kirk dying "so he'll appreciate his crew, and then he does, but then he's dead, so it doesn't matter."

K also made a point to highlight the "little round furry buddy" and the return of Scotty's "little cabbage friend." (Scotty is K's favorite.)

The best part of her recap was K saying that Spock cheated by "calling his body double and asking if Khan is bad. And he says, 'He killed me but I got to come back. So, FYI, if anyone dies....they can come back.'"

Finally, she bemoaned the too-quick resolution of Kirk's death, saying, "It couldn't even wait until the next movie like in the original? They knew how to build suspense in the old days."

They also knew how to crash land the Enterprise on dust planets in the old days.
