Jack would be a zeppelin pilot, you know he would

I'm trying to craft a habit of using nearly no internet at home in an attempt to spend more time doing the things I mean to be doing. I spend most of the workday in front of a computer and I've found that, when I'm at home, I end up losing whole evenings to the nothingness of internet time. I don't mean catching up on LJ or paging through Google Reader. I mean that, in the middle of washing dishes, something will occur to me and I'll run over to the computer to look up all the episodes where Todd the Wraith shows up and the next thing I know, an hour has passed and the dishes still aren't done. In setting up some restrictions for myself, I realized that I also do meaningless internet things while writing, without even really noticing. This morning I caught myself stopping mid-sentence to click through my delicious network even though I'd just checked it moments before, and anyway, I was in the middle of something, its not like I was going to stop and read fic, even if it had been the Sam/Jack steampunk AU I've been waiting for all my life (or....whatever, not to get too specific or anything.)

Anyway, this makes me look totally crazy, doesn't it? I'm a control freak, it's true, but this is excessive planning for the sake of productivity! Yeah, still makes me look nuts, fine.

On the same theme, I'm watching through Stargate Atlantis and Stargate again for story research purposes, and I'm collecting subject-specific lists, like important Tok'ra episodes, episodes where Sam and Jacob appear together, episodes where various members of SG-1 is on Atlantis. Gateworld's pretty helpful, as is the Stargate wiki, but I'd love recommendations of your favorite resources.

I made four recipes from Isa Chandra Moskowitz's Vegan Brunch cookbook this weekend (three fabulous, but one terrible - if you had success with the pumpkin french toast, I want to know your secret!) and Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar just came in to the library. It's all I can do not to stay up late baking. If there was a tv in my kitchen, I just might.

you can stay at my place, i'm here to be told, that fandom about hair and geek heros
