kjabernathy is watching more Battlestar Galactica, most recently Exodus, Part 2. There are many reasons I love her, but this thing she has to say about Tigh is near the top of the list: and Saul, oh Saul, who was always a little bat-shit has just stepped into the role of head Bat, King of the Shit.
The subject line of this post is from a very bad episode of Charmed I watched the other day when I fell victim to the temptation of early morning re-runs on TNT. A demon monkey does indeed steal Phoebe's hearing, and, unsurprisingly, Piper's sight and Paige's voice. This is the same episode which so famously declares, one demon to another, that there are laws in the demon world preventing the murder of a child. What little respect I have left for Charmed shudders nearer to its last breath every time the show does something like that.
I have been on the road much too much this week and when I start shouting at random character decisions in Half-Blood Prince, which I'm listening to on tape, iTunes shuffle saves me with song pairings like I Am Trying to Break Your Heart by Wilco followed by Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying by Belle and Sebastian, and The Nearness of You by Sarah Vaughan followed by Toxic by Britney Spears.
I have been watching the first season of NCIS, and the strangest thing isn't the unevenness of the show finding its feet or the moments of do-gooder Gibbs or the mysterious red-head who picks him up after these do-gooder moments. The strangest thing is how different the dynamic of the team is with Kate there. She and Abby joke and almost flirt. DiNozzo, alternating between acting like a suitor and her annoying younger brother, somehow always knows when to defer to Kate, and there are moments when it's clear that Kate, despite being the new person, is somehow on the same level as Gibbs. Even Gibbs seems to think this, and it shows in every interaction he has with her, even when he's scolding her. In fact, the scolding seems harsher, since he expects so much more from her.
I have also been watching Farscape, but the most recent episode I saw was the two-parter Infinite Possibilities, and I really can't talk about it right now because OMG THIS SHOW AND MY HEART.
