The James Returneth

Ok, I'm back from Cornwall. I'm now very very brown. Browner than my friend who spent the same amount of time in Barbados. That's probably related to the fact that I spent more time outside in those two weeks than I have in the last few months previously.

Anyway, I got loads of surfing done in Cornwall. Me and my sister Zoe had 7 lessons each, and we really improved. I've looked at some pictures of last year, and of this year, and you can see the improvement. For one thing, I don't stick my bum out so much now, resulting in less overbalancing.

I've also discovered white chocolate ice cream. I've never seen it outside of cornwall, but on the first day there I had white chocolate ice cream with chocolate ice cream rippled through it, and both white and milk chocolate buttons in it too. I highly recommend it to anyone who's lucky enough to find it.

That's pretty much a simplified summary of my holiday: Surfing and Ice Cream. Oh, and my parents bought me and Zoe long wetsuits rather than the short ones we already had - they're better for surfing in. I don't mind the cold water so much, but the boards rub against my skin, and a long wetsuit stops that.

Anywho, when we got home, my results were waiting for me. I got an A in Maths, and Cs in computing, physics and further maths. That means I JUST got into Reading University. I got exactly the right amount of UCAS points, no more, no less. So that was an immense relief.

However, I recieved bad news on friday too. Blackwells is closing. For thsoe who don't know, Blackwells is Reading's geek shop. Like Forbidden Planet in london, but on a smaller scale. It's also my only source of Pocky. Apparently they want to replace it with a shop specialising in textbooks for university. I don't like this idea. Thankfully they're looking for new premises for another geek shop run by the same staff etc, about 15 minutes away from where Blackwells currently is. It's also going to be about a quarter of the size. It's going to be a real shame - a large part of the reason I go into Reading is to go to Blackwells. I love chatting with the staff, I love the things they sell, the whole place just feels like home. Yes, I know that probably sounds a bit weird, but it's true. I've become really really attached to that place. I'm gonna miss it.
