I now command a squad of intelligence specialists for the United States Army. They number three. Not many, I know, but I did draw the troublemaker of the new lot. I've got Taussig, Martinez and Lane. Luckily, I've been able to establish myself in the command position without any trouble. I expected at least some resentment, since all four of us are the same rank. I suppose it helps that I have actual combat experience. That will make this easier on everybody.
Unfortunately, the senior of the three is the one I'm going to have to babysit. He's actually been in the army half a year longer than me, but isn't promotable yet. I can see why. I had to call him out of ranks today for failing to show up at the end of the day formation. He told me later that he went to the wrong place. Explanations don't excuse actions though and I will be counseling him tomorrow morning on his infraction. Hopefully, I can also knock out the initial counseling for all three so they know exactly what is expected of them.
1LT Song is the company commander right now and that works out really well for me, since I'm his golden boy. It is really nice not to be the lowest man on the totem anymore and actually have a few people listen to my opinions. Like sweet vindication. All of this new responsibility should help eat up my time and make everything go by smoother. /cheer
