About your "bread worshipin' Mary lover" self. I know that your church is part of the ECUSA. But it seems to be a different kind of church than the normal ECUSA churches that I've come across here.
Truth be told I'd love to find a church that's kind of like yours but I've been having problems with it as it seems that all the churches in the San Diego area are either super Catholic or super Evangelical. And was wondering if maybe you could ask around about that for me since you church types have the inside track.
The organisation my parish is aligned with, Forward in Faith North America, has a list of parishes that are also "in communion" with one another. I'm not sure whether these are "good places to go," but they're at least solid in catholic Faith and Practise.
This is what I was able to pull up:
San Diego - All Saints The Revd Tony Noble . . . (619) 298-7729
San Diego - Holy Trinity The Revd Larry Bausch . . . (619) 222-0365
According to FiF/NA, these are "friendly parishes," so hopefully they're friendly in attitude as well as catholic theology.
I just found the Holy Trinity site. The All Saint's site is blocked here at work so I'll have to poke around it later. Holy Trinity, though, is pretty far from my neighborhood. It would be like driving down to your church while I was living in Hoboken.
Well, the best (and easiest) question to ask is simply "What time is Mass on Sunday?" My vote: Try to go to a High Mass if it is offered. Chances are, whomever you talk to will be very interested that you attend-I know I would be if I was the priest in charge...
The websites are, of course, a nice non-threatening way to get a tour before you shoot on over.
Hrm...then...um...try calling at an off hour so you'll get the answering machine. That's my best advice. (And I've done it when I was still in my fear of Talking To Some One Who Is Down With God In An Official Way.)
Usually on the answering service, they'll have Mass times™ and the like...so you'll be able to escape unscathed. =)
As far as priests go, they're generally very personable, likeable, lovely people. (Hey, God willing, I'm going to be one too.) Besides, when you think they're scary, take a look at Fr. Dave:
Thank you. That isn't too terribly far away. I could check them out this Sunday. I'm a little curious about the use of the word "extramural." I know what the word means, I'm just not certain that I understand the application of it here. Can you please explain.

I will be going this weekend and I think (from reading some of the sermons online) I have found a home in a proper anglocathcolic church!

Just phone numbers!
Should I call them? What would I ask?

I imagine this is where I have to suck it up isn't it? I think it's all the black they wear, and the WARRIOR OF GOD aura. It's pretty intimidating.
Funny thing is, I've never felt any hesitation in talking to protestant evangelical pastors.
