But even crack heads, many want to get off of it...but their body goes into rebellion if they don't get it... So maybe they're "dependent" as well?
I think addict works fine for both, though, because even those who are on prescription medication...their bodies are addicted to the substances. I know I am...

2. Xanax is, perhaps, a poor example. Consider pain relievers, such as the Percs. People have been known to break into pharmacies, break state-laws against doctor fishing (Rush...ahwemm), etc. Percosette and other addictive substances are legal...crack isn't. One is considered "dependency," the other, "addiction." When, in fact, all are addiction, but in different degrees. "Dependency" seems a soft sell.
