Spinal tap

I was hospitalized last week. I thought I might have had food poisoning (vomiting, painful migraine) and it got so bad that I called 911 and went to the ER by ambulance. Since I had a stiff neck, the doctor was afraid I might have meningitis and gave me a spinal tap (lumbar puncture). Its where they stick a needle into your spine and extract the clear fluid from inside your spine, which is also around your brain. I was in isolation at the hospital for a few days and put on iv fluids and antibiotics. They also gave me medication through the iv, including morphine. I was pretty loopy. I had a purple bruise from the spinal tap but its starting to go away now and become pinkish. The lab results from the spinal tap came back and it turned out that I did not have meningitis, so I was finally discharged and took a taxi home.

My doctor forgot to order an MRI for me and said she would do it this week. If I don't hear anything about it by the end of next week, I am giving her a call. :)
