I've watched the entire 4th season of Sex and the City today and I'm inspired to write about my life since I haven't covered Christmas or New Year's or anything.
So, let's start with good ol' Xmas. (I just had a hilarious thought...what if some porn film was called "T'was the night before XXXmas?" HA HA HA HA HA) Jon came in from Providence on the 20th and that evening he and Emily and I went out to Mercury, our new local wine and tapas bar (after I myself had consumed two long island iced teas at the Beanery), where we flirted with two old men who ended up paying our 100+ dollar bar tab. One was the hospital administrator for UPMC healthcare systems in pittsburgh who told me I have "nice breasts" (--->side note: well, I do.) and one (luckily!) gay man who sexually assaulted Jon and was probably in his mid-60s. At one very classy point in the evening, I was guzzling a 50 dollar wine from the bottle. Yeah. I'm just that cool.
So the next morning, Jon and I head to Elkins and settle down in mom's house. We have a new basset hound, Daisy. She's ADORABLE. We spent a couple days chillin out, seeing people in town and eating different places. Jon and I spent about 4 hours one evening at the walmart supercenter buying christmas gifts and talking to people from school. We saw Katy and Matt's cool new house in South Elkins. Eamon's back from Kenya, so it was interesting to hear about that. Jon and I saw King Kong, the SADDEST MOVIE EVER MADE. GodDAMN that was sad! Much hijink action was carried out. David took Jon and I out gambling and drinking. We even won free beer at after hours by being the loudest table. There were some batshit crazy dancers, too.
So Christmas: 1st off: MOM GOT US A ROUND OF iPODS!!!! One for me, one for tristan, one for Jon. Jon really made out well this Christmas. Sarah's dad got him a nice new luggage set, mom got him an ipod, sarah's sister bought his old laptop. Among the other presents are:
-scarf and pretty underwear and a super guinness glass from Mandy in NI (Mandy: THANK YOU! LOVE ALL OF IT!)
-Aladin from Tristan
-an ultra-fantastic Strawberry Shortcake mini suitcase from Jon
-down featherbed, printer, et al. from David
-a ring, multiple cleaning supplies, Cinderella, an ipod with car adapter (as previously mentioned), a LOAD of Philosophy skincare and makeup for graduating, and much, much more from Mom, the principal gift giver of the holiday season
The day after Christmas, I headed back to Morgantown while Jon stayed with Sarah's family. I promptly called and asked for a waitressing job at the Gold Club II, a strip club on the other side of town, and was answered with "yeah, we're all gettin drunk so you can come on down here and get drunk too and we'll start you out tonight." I was terrified, but convinced myself to buck up. It's actually quite a nice place as far as strip clubs go I'm sure, though my knowledge of the subject is limited...there's a nice big floor area with pool and lounge chairs and a bar and all the people that work there are nice in a very grizzled way and the dancers aren't all scary looking or anything. Either way I worked 3 nights this week (total of around 12 hours) and made about 100 bucks. So that's decent. And it's not like I'm supposed to do anything weird either, I just sell beer and clean out ashtrays. I don't even wear slutty clothes. Crazy clothes, yes, because I'm me, but not slutty. I worked New Year's, which totally wasn't worth it but eh, I got groceries today so it wasn't all for naught.
Anyway, today I got chinese food, donated my fake tree and some ornaments to Goodwill (where I bought it, coincidentally), and relaxed at home. It feels like I've done more but really, I just got groceries at Target and watched Sex and the City all the live-long day. Tomorrow night I'm babysitting the twin kiddies of Dr. Claycomb, our awesome Brit Lit II professor from this past semester because I shamelessly (ever notice how shameless and shameful mean the same thing?) self-promoted my super babysitting skills over facebook. But again, I'm working so again, not for naught.
Also, over break I had a crazy crazy desire to up and leave to Toronto since I've graduated and stuff (ha! yeah, forgot to mention that...i'm a bonafide college graduate as of December 11 i think is the day) but my family ever-so-gently pointed out that i have no money and no useful skills and that keepin that truck goin towards medical school might be the best thing for me right now. So now I want to save so I have a little 2000 dollar nest egg by the time I finish all these science courses. I'ma gonna open up a savings account and stop being stupid with money! Hoorah! (Alright, I don't really buy it either but let's just go with it, okay?)
Oh also, Sex and the City has me completely depressed again for like the 17th time for the reason that I'm desperately in love with Mr. Big despite the fact he's a fictional character. So that's that.
