Myanthea!

So, there's been some ridiculous amounts of excitement among some of my friends about the Myanthea one-day that happened this past weekend. I was unable to get up that much excitement, either because of larp/work burn-out, or because I just wasn't as involved in stuff, or because I never actually played Myanthea when it was a game before, so a lot of the people involved weren't as real to me.

I figured, though, that I'd get into it when I got there.

The event was really solid. It was a great opportunity to get to meet (or at least get a glimpse of as we desperately ran for our lives) most of the major players, both good and bad, that we'll be working with/fighting against (sometimes, the same people - Tremack is a fucker).

Some of my highlights:
- stepping out of the gate into Myanthea and nearly tripping over the dessicated corpse of someone who was wearing a Myanthean tabbard. Really kinda set the mood.

- "Are there any among your number who are... squeamish?" :insert mental sigh:

- I have minions! Oh god, what do I do with minions?!

- having a nicely dressed elf walk into the room where I was sitting with (among others) Anyasha, and being utterly confused when he said, "Hello, sister!"... and then walked past Anyasha to shake my hand.

- watching and counting as we lost people during the retreat from the Thracian. Discovering after we got one person back that Omi was having a hard time letting go (literally).

- watching Tremack talk to Prudence. What a creepy scene. (Also, getting to see Prudence again was awesome.)

- giving some advice to some newbies (poor newbies! At a Myanthea event!) about how to go about decoding... and then walking away, because I know I'm constitutionally incapable of not trying to help with decoding something if I'm in the same room.

- the 'blanket and rope security system' :-D We had the best group ever for that.

- seeing Cynnir in a ridiculously good mood after she got to fight vampires while hopped up on mint

- napping on the couch, and discovering that I responded to two things while asleep: one was mention of my name, the other was the word 'farmer', both of which brought me out of sleep long enough to mutter a response to a question before I drifted off again.

- the moment at the end of the Kraken fight where Jayson had us screaming our defiance at the Kraken's minion. I've been in a lot of scenes like that, and most of them have felt (to me) relatively forced, for one reason or another. This was the first time that I have been playing Omi where following someone's lead shouting defiance just seemed like the only thing to do.

"Myanthea! Have they taken our hope?"
"NO!"

I'm still kinda tired, both from the event and from helping someone move the next day, but I'm glad we went. Is good to pay forward karma from all the times people have helped me move.
