My Weekend
An Excerpt by Justin Litchfield
Dated May 30, 2004
If there ever was a more potent point of my life where I felt more needed and loved, it would be this weekend. May 29th was Shayna's Graduation, and I was approaching this occasion with a little of apprehension. I didn't care that I was up at 7 am Saturday Morning, helping clean the house, doing some chores, and sitting on my fat butt until 10 am watching Saturday morning cartoons. I went to the Drycleaners at about 10 am, and picked up my suit. They had let down the cuff on my pants, so I didn't look like a school boy when I wore them. The only little gripe I had about my suit was that the lady forgot to reattach a button on the inside to the fabric of the jacket, so I was worried the button might fall/pop off while I was dancing with Shayna.
I got home at about 11 am, and shot down to the Legion to go to the florists to order Shayna's corsage, and my boutenier, which currently is drying out on my windowsill. That alone cost me Twenty-Five dollars, but it was worth it. After that was all done, I went straight to Simon's house to pick up his shoes to wear, but lo and behold, noone was home. I went back home (It was raining, I didn't have a jacket) and called Shayna's Mom, who immediately voluntold Tim's (Her husband) shoes, which, after a few coats of shoe polish, and a rag, weren't half bad. Shayna's Mom picked me up from my house at about 2ish, and we went to go pick up the Corsage/boutenier, followed by Shayna's drycleaning.
We got to her place, and we changed, did some makeup stuff (on her, not me, silly), and took some pictures. After this, came the only downfall of the entire weekend: Shayna's "friend" Cassandra. Long story short, she is a self serving monopolizing ego-maniacal BITCH. She was pulling one of those "I'm the one who did all this, worship me in your inhumane opulence, scum!" I honest to god felt sorry for her boyfriend, Dan, who was a schizophrenic. No amount of multi-personality is going to forget that "thing" in a metallic blue dress, sorry Dan (I honestly don't have anything against you, Dan). She was rude to Shayna, her parents, and myself. Shayna and I made a rash note to avoid her like the plague.
The Dinner/Dance was pretty nice. I had never been to the Four Season's hotel before, and so I was kinda generous, since I kept tipping the hops for doing such a good job. A good portion of the students came to the function drunk, so it was an entertaining experience to watch a decent portion of the football team make nubile asses of themselves in front of everyone. Shayna had blown me out of the water with her hairstyle and her dress and deportment. I felt like I was dating a ritzy model, and there is nothing wrong with that. Michelle and Madeline were there, and everybody had a great time.
After the Dinner/Dance, Shayna's Dad drove us back home, and we changed into some normal day clothes. We snuggled for a few minutes together before we left to Shayna's Aftergrad, which was a blast. Even more people were drunk at the Aftergrad than the Dinner/Dance. The night went on, and still we avoided Cassandra. They had a Casino there. Between Shayna and I, we racked up about 110 Thousand Dollars worth of Monopoly money. They were Drawing prizes, too. Shayna won 50 bucks, so we went shopping Today. We watched a comedy documentry on Andy Kaufmann starring Jim Carrey, and a bit of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". Utilized this time and snuggled n' kissed. Best. Weekend. Ever.

P.S. I love you, Shayna!
