Some time ago we saw a John Cleese show about
wine wherein he did a test with blindfolded testers to see if they could tell the difference between red and white wines. So I’m doing this with my wife. She closes her eyes - no blindfold. We’ve been finding that with fairly nondescript wines, say cheap merlots, pinots and chardonnays, that its fairly hard to consistently get this right. Obviously there are wines that have distinctive taste characteristics, say like Gewürztraminers, sweet wines are more likely white, and highly tannic wines tend red, but this is harder than we thought. So give it a try and see what you find.
