The pug food song

Back when I was taking care of iampug, when it was time to feed him, I would sing a made up song while I was preparing his food. Unlike a lot of pugs who'll eat anything, Frank was a very dainty eater, and often would turn his nose up at food he wasn't sure about. I like to think that singing the pug food song helped him get in the mood for his meals. If he was being too lazy to follow me automatically anywhere I went, he'd at least head into the kitchen after hearing me sing the pug food song for a minute.

The lyrics varied a bit, but this is generally what I'd sing:

Pug food! It's pug food time! It's time for pugs to eat their pug food.

Pug food! It's time for pugs! All the puggiest pugs eat pug food.

Pug food! It's pug food time! All the puggiest pugs who ever pugged -- the wuggiest, wuggiest wuggy wugs -- like to eat their pug food.

Anyway, it was catchy, and it made me happy, and I think it made Frank happy. It sticks in my memory as one of the things that I liked about my relationship with iampug. I've been thinking about it lately.

iampug was trained not to lick, but pretty often he would lick me one time after he finished eating. I think it was to say "thanks". But maybe he was just wiping the flavor off his tongue. He always did it in this very sly way when I wasn't looking, so I almost wasn't sure if he even did it. I'd feel something on my leg, and I guessed it was a pug tongue, but it was just one time, and I'd look at him and say, "Did you lick me?" And he would look at back at me, as though he was saying, "Shh, don't tell mommy."

I like pugs.
