Halloween Movie Madness: Days 28-31

Oct 31, 2021 20:29

We wound up short one movie, but I'm okay with that. We watched Zombeavers, Halloween Kills, and Halloween III: Season of the Witch.

Zombeavers was the dark comedy of the week. Directed by John Rubin, it stars Cortney Palm, Rachel Melvin (Sleepy Hollow), Lexi Atkins, Jake Weary, Peter Gilroy, and Hutch Dano. A group of very annoying 20 somethings go on a trip to lake where the beavers have been infected with some kind of toxic goo. This is the kind of movie I would normally enjoy, but the characters were not very nice. It made it hard to want to cheer for them. The effects are all over the place. It's a B-movie for sure, but not a great one.

Halloween Kills continues all the same stuff from the last movie. Same director, same cast, the movie picks up right where it left off. I was hoping I would like this movie better than the last one, but the characters are making all he same choices. I guess at least they're consistent. But one thing happened that threw me over the edge. Once I hit that spot, I couldn't like the movie anymore. Nothing made sense to me anymore. So that's a no.

Finally we ended by sitting on the porch watching Halloween III: Season of the Witch. I can understand why people don't like it as far as being part of the Halloween franchise. I would feel like I had been cheated. Watching it this far removed, it's okay. Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace (It 1982), it stars Tom Atkins (Night of the Creeps), Stacey Nelkin, and Dan O'Herlihy (Robocop). A company selling Halloween masks has a nefarious plan to do some serious evil. Tom Atkins isn't a great actor. At one point he was supposed to be reacting too something pretty gruesome, and he was just praying. But it was worth it to keep saying, “Thrill me,” to Gregg.
