TRC190 Cover
Okay, so I'm not so happy with the new cover. It reminds me of an alternate version of the pic in X Zero in which Subaru has the arm with which is holding a knife around Seishiro, who's resting his hand on it. Only this time Subaru has claws and not knife and the 'embrace', if you can call it that, is much more lose.
Okay so I shouldn't talk since the version I saw is SO small but I was hoping in something better.
I don't see why CLAMP felt the need to have Subaru show his claws except to point out he's a vampire, a thing we already knew.
Probably the general idea was to match the Kamui/Fay one (they also used the same background) but, after 189 chap of waiting for a Seishiro/Subaru cover I hardly feel the need for one who would just point out that Subaru is Seishiro's maker (and, despite not being a Kamui/Fay that pic looked sexier... Subaru and Seishiro are even one more distant than Kamui & Fay... it's SO not right!... in this way this pic won't even do good icon material...).
And I don't see why they've to look straight at the readers and not at each other...

Okay, let's look at the positive things.
The scan's small so I'm not too sure about the expression but Subaru poor thing seems rather sad. Seishiro instead is smiling (as usual) but... he's tilting his head almost brushing it against Subaru's arm as if he was about to nuzzle against it (but maybe it's just me) so maybe this time he's happy for real.
Subaru, standing over him, looks somehow protective. There's something sad in the way he's not touching Seishiro, probably because the claws won't allow him (or more likely because CLAMP are evil!).
It's interesting how Seishiro's dressed like in the color cover with that thing, tessute, whatever, draped over his shoulders, though I've the feeling that, in order to make Subaru that much taller they've put Seishiro in a hole or something like that.
Oh, and something completely random.
Honestly I'm not so fond of how many covers are so completely random in TRC (I know, they did the same in X too... -_-). I would have preferred to wait more to see it or see it in one of the episodes with subaru and Seishiro. Maybe that's just me but I like for the covers to be connected to the chapters at hand even if only vaguely.
I might have been fine if it decipted the first meeting about Sei&Su since there's a first meeting between Shaoran & Sakura.
But, if I weren't a SeiSu to have their cover here wouldn't tell me much.
The quote foreshadowing their appariction? I don't know if that's the case but I know of manga authors who have their editors writing said quotes and, anyway, that quote will disappear when the story will be collected in volumes so no, I'm not impressed.
And okay, so maybe I'm complaining because my expectations were too high.
We will unlikely get another cover of Sei&Su (and probably we won't get covers of Subaru alone either) and i wanted it to be GOOD and worth the long wait, damn it.
Okay, I'll cut here and go sulk for a while in hope to get a larger pic who, maybe, will make things look better than the tiny one (yeah, JJ tells yourself it's just because the pic is tiny that you don't like it... maybe one day you'll believe it...).
Id you need to give it a peck at the 219x310 one it's on su_chan's journal with the whole chap. you might be tempted to give it a look since Shaoran and Sakura are cute. And yes, if I'm impressed more by Shaoran and Sakura this meant I'm VERY disappointed...

Okay, now I've seen the huge version and... well, Subaru's love. And Seishiro... he's smiling but he've a look that seems to say 'watch all you want but don't you ever think to touch my Subaru-kun' so I like it a little more but still... CLAMP you could have done so much better!
