Summary: Leo is lost.
Pairings: Leo/Ken

Days had passed and Leo had been mourning. Dark circles formed under his eyes, a sign due to lack of rest. His lips are pale and chapped. He refuses to budge from his bed. After Ken had magically 'vanished', Leo tried to look for him. He searched the campus where they study. Ask every person around. Look through files. Explore every nook and cranny but no avail.  He received judging stares from his friends as he was finding a person who does not even exist. Leo felt like burying himself deep in the rich soil and never get out. He had mixed feelings. A confusing mixture of sadness, guilt and anger.

Remorse. That is the only word that could at least explain his currently messed up state. So he hung his head low and dragged his half-alive body home, letting his tears flow quietly.
He had lost his hopes, actually. The thought of the possibilities that Ken would probably not return made his heart shatter to pieces. He felt lonely. And empty.

Hours passed and suddenly there is a faint knock on the door. Leo just continued to lie in bed, ignoring the door.

Knock knock.

Leo finally relents and opens the door only to be greeted with the face of a worried Hongbin.
"Oh my, you look awful! You are so not okay." He reaches towards Leo, touching his sunken cheeks, then his hand moves down his pointy shoulders. “Do you have edible stuff in your kitchen?” Hongbin enquires. Leo replies with a hollow stare.

Hongbin dragged him inside and made him sit. Leo sinks in the fluffy couch and continues staring at the light blue wall with hanged frames of family portrait, boring holes into it. There used to be a few of his and Ken’s too which now become Leo’s solo picture. The space beside him left vacant. Hongbin pats his head softly and padded to the kitchen to make something for Leo as he looks like he had not been eating for ages. As a matter of fact, Leo is a glutton and he would usually be found munching on something. Seeing him like this is definitely new.

Hongbin appeared from the kitchen holding a steaming bowl of congee and a mug of cold milk on the other. “You’re lucky the milk has not expired yet.” Said the latter as he bend down to place the food on the coffee table. Hongbin looks up and saw Leo’s straight face. His sharp eyes empty. Hongbin sighes and pats his hair softly.

“What’s bothering you, actually?” Leo shrug, not replying the question and let out a long sigh. Hongbin hold out the mug of milk for Leo and he takes it. As he stares into the cold opaque liquid, memories of Ken floods his mind.

“Hey Leo! i’m going to the convenience store to buy milk. You want anything?” Ken called out to Leo while tying his shoelaces. “Nope.” Leo’s voice was heard from the room. Suddenly his head poked out from the door. ”Wait-I thought you just bought some yesterday?”
“Yeah but that’s strawberry flavor. I want banana. Anyways, two cartons are not enough” Ken and his obsession of milk thought Leo and went back in his room.

Leo takes a sip from the mug and a tear trickles down his cheek. He remembers how Ken would drink milk all the time, going to the convenience store late at night if they ran out of it. He misses Ken. He really, really does.

“I take back what I said. I just want Ken to come back.” Leo said between sobs and latched his arms around Hongbin’s neck. Tears staining the collar of his shirt but he did not mind. Who’s Ken? wondered Hongbin. He did not blurt that out though.
Minutes later, Leo stops crying and takes his hand off Hongbin. He turns to the latter, eyes puffy. “Sorry for staining your shirt. I can wash it for you if you want.”
“It’s okay. Feeling better now?” Leo nods. “It’s getting late. You should go home. And thanks for everything.” He continues while wiping his eyes with the sleeve of his sweater. Hongbin smiles widely and pats Leo’s back. “Sure. What’s a friend for, right?’’

Leo’s face contorts into something that looks like a smile. He rarely smiles but he tries. He actually tries. He sighs again and drags his feet to the room. He collapses on the bed.

“I wish I could turn back time...”

Suddenly, Leo feel like the room is spinning. He shoots up and shakes his head. The room is still spinning. A pencil holder rattles and topples over, spilling its content over the study table. Leo brings his hands to his head, and closes his eyes. He feels really dizzy. After what it feels like a time morph, he faints.

The bright sunshine pokes through the window to Leo’s face. He wakes up, an arm shielding his eyes from the blinding light. His back sore from sleeping on the cold, hard floor. What happened yesterday and why am I on the floor? Leo is more than confused. His eyes darts around the room and landed on the stationeries strewn over the study table. What even.

The clinking sound of keys followed by the front door unlocking catches Leo’s attention. Could it be theifs? Leo tiptoes to the living room, grabbing a broom stick on his way. He is ready to attack and a painfully familiar face came through the door. Leo gapes at the person, eyes widening. Ken? Wait-What?

“Leo? What are you doing with the broom?” A confused Ken asks. Leo’s mouth opens and closes like fish out of water. He’s dumbstruck. And speechless. Before he could answer, Ken continues and his head hangs low. “Umm…You see, I’m very sorry for throwing your precious stuff away. I was so careless. I should’ve looked properly. I’m sorry again. I just-“

Ken’s words are cut off as Leo launches himself onto his body. “Woah..Leo? You okay?” Leo is not the type to start skinship so Ken is stunned.
“No..I’m the one who should apologize. I should’ve not shouted at you like that.” After a brief silence, Leo reluctantly continues, looking down while fingers fiddling with the seams of his sweater. “I missed you.” Ken’s face forms a wide smile. A very wide one that his gums show up and his cheeks might burst.

“Am I forgiven now?” A very happy Ken looks at Leo. His eyes are greeted with a nod and a smiling face. Leo smiles for real this time. An honest one and his usually intimidating eyes disappears. How could a person look like this. Ken’s heart skipped a beat. Butterflies run wild in his stomach.

“You look pretty when you smile”

And the white note is still lying on the floor. Abandoned.
