Abandoned Places - North Alabama Wander - Site 4 (Summer 2010)

Some sites don't want to be explored. In the years I've been doing this, I've concluded that there are some locations that for various reasons defy exploration. This roadside (formerly track-side) house is one of them.

This place has given me an odd feeling everytime we've passed by it. The area around it is completely overgrown and several windows are broken out of this old switchman's cottage built along the former Memphis, Corinth and Chattanooga Railroad right of way.

The door was solidly bolted from the inside and was much sturdier than it looked.

As Chris and I poked around the outside, we both had the uncomfortable feeling something wasn't right about this place. When both of us thought we saw movement inside the building, we took side by side shots and then left.

Notice the difference in what we caught. Chris's photo on the bottom clearly captures a woman's profile in the window.
