River Tam from Serenity
How long does it take me to get into a new fandom? Aparently only a week. I saw the movie Serenity when it came out but this week I finally started watching Firefly and now I'm really into it. So yes, that means it's time for yet another costume to make for Dragon*Con. I really like Kaylee and think I'm more like her but I would look horrid in the jumpsuit so I decided to do River. I'd like to do her pink dress from the TV show, but for D*Con I will be doing her movie battle dress. My friend is going to do Kaylee and hopefully I can convince someone else to go as Zoe. I'd really like to find someone to dress as Simon and/or Mal, but my hopes aren't high for that. lol.
Here is the picture of the actual dress. It is a DKNY dress. I've looked everwhere online and have had no luck finding it so I will have to make it, which shouldn't be too hard. The beads are going to kill me though.
I have the boots already and plan to make everything else. I saw a picture of an axe someone made out of cardboard and it looked fantastic so I'm going to give that a try. Since my friend is doing Kaylee this has moved up my list as one of the more important costumes. I'm no longer doing the Battle Handmaiden so I this will replace that. I just hope I can get everything done in time.
