Reservoir Dogs Review!!!

SYNOPSIS: A group of crooks-for-hire are brought together for a diamon heist. After it goes disasterously wrong, the group reunites and, using flashbacks, figure out how they all came together...and which one of them is a snitch.

ANALYSIS: I understand Reservoir Dogs has a cult following of some kind and supposedly was a precursor to the "wonderful" Quentin Tarantino flicks of the late 90s (Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown), but this one is vulgar, violent and, ultimately, boring.

The structure itself isn't the problem; plenty of films use the flashback device to tell their story. The actors themselves work, mainly because of the names: Laurence Tierney, Chris Penn, Steve Buscemi, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Harvey Keitel. The problem is that the audience is never given a reason to care about these people. They are vile, disgusting, profane crooks with no redeeming features. Just about the only thing to latch onto here is the profanity.

And is this movie ever profane. It has been counted that the word "fuck" is used 252 times. There comes a time in a film when the shock value of gratuitous bloodshed, violence and cursing don't have any sway on the audience. Unfortunately, Reservoir Dogs uses its stockpile of shocks within the first ten minutes, leaving a very mind-numbing 90 minutes for the audience.
