Alien Review!!!

SYNOPSIS: The crew of the commercial ship Nostromo is diverted to an unknown planet, where one crew member is attacked by an alien creature. Soon, this creature wrecks havoc onboard the ship, killing the crew one at a time. With limited resources and time rapidly wasting away, what will the ultimate body count be for the Alien?

ANALYSIS: At this point, if there is a soul who has not seen Ridley Scott's singularly spine-tingling sci fi horror film, it's deplorable. This movie, with a handful of others, is one that ushered in a new era of filmmaking. For starters, with Star Wars and Blade Runner, Alien ushered in the idea of a gritty future. Before that, the future was clean, white and happy. Here, we are introduced to some of the characters with demands for more money, something that would not happen with the pure characters of Starfleet. Secondly, this isn't just a sci-fi movie. This is sci-fi horror where a giant hole could be punched into your head if you turn around the wrong corner. Again, compare this to getting phaser stunned. Quite a difference. And then there's the little matter of a female action protagonist (Sigourney Weaver).

Really, this is one of the seminal movies in our history. Nothing I can say here could ever do it justice. Do yourself a favor and go watch the bloody movie. It's excellent filmmaking, excellent writing and an all around fantastic entry into a new future.
