yeah i know exactly what you're talking about. nowadays a bachelor's or doctorate degree doesn't mean squat. i have friends who went to jr. high & school w/ me, that took accelerated courses w/ 16 - 18 credit hours a semester to finish college w/i 2 or 3 years only to be out of a job b/c there's no demand for whatever they majored in (mostly education to be teachers) or there are no jobs for their majors. it's really quite sad & pathetic that now higher education basically just equals higher debt. :-\

It's horribly discouraging after getting out of college and expecting the world to want your skills only to discover that in order to have your talents truly 'discovered' that you have to get your Master's degree or even a doctorate or 5+ years of equivalent experience. In my field, no one cares that I have a $30,000 piece of paper stating that I've gone through academic hell and back. All they care about is me spending another $60k on portfolio school. Even with that, I am not guaranteed a job. There is a lack of job security and company loyalty anymore, since a company only cares about number one: Itself ( ... )
