I never knew it was loosely based on a real man! In fact most of the major characters were borrowed from history. Apparently the real Anjin-san was given the more honoured title of Anjin-sama
Am reading Gai-jin now. Pretty cool too but Shogun was such an awesome book, still my favorite for ages now. Was googgling Clavell, sad to learn he passed some few years ago. His first book King Rat was based on his own prison camp experience!
