But it still gives you an interesting "what if" mindset of the two main candidates. I was actually surprised at Obama's stance on a few things in the "what if" categories. For a self-proclaimed church attending Christian, he sure has a platform that betrays that declaration! Also his answer to the role of judges that should "rule according to their beliefs" is very telling.
In the beginning I was really hoping I could stand behind him, but in the end, these issues are show-stoppers for me.
as if you have another choice? voting for martians isn't going to help! no candidate is ever going to have YOUR specific view on EVERY issue. but surely you can't be thinking of voting for anyone else tomorrow. it would be insanity
Wow! yea.. I have been a registered Libertarian since 1984, with a brief stint as a Republican to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries this past year.
I am actually torn between voting my conscience, or for one of the main two, (hint it wouldn't be Obama for reasons mentioned above). However I am not a fan of the current situation in the White House and feel that voting for McCain would be more of the same to some extent, even though I align with much more of his views and principles on the moral issues and things.
Don't know, I will have my answer when I wake up tomorrow morning. :-)
well at least you admit that being libertarian is really a closeted republican. consider the high end gop endorsements obama's gotten. he's clearly far more capable than mcblame on so many levels, and extremely viable in terms of getting the job done. look at how he was able to ace both hillary and the gop! takes a real man to do that! be a part of the future man, not a shlump for the past!
Hmm not sure if I agree on that definition completely. More like the Libertarian's are more what the Reps should be like, but aren't. Actually I am closer to the Constitution Party. But I digress. Libertarians see our things closer to what the founding fathers envisioned. Upholding constitutional views of liberty and freedom. Something that the Reps and Dems have both strayed severely from.
i disagree. i think a lot of people think it is "cool" to support some other theoretical ideological party, but in truth, would any viable candidate from yours or any other party be in contention, they would be forced to bend and yield to garner any sort of cohesive consensus, and so I say, this sort of idealism is purely fiction and counter to any real progress for an election.
people were against humphrey because he was too centrist and instead got nixon...
obama is a real candidate, not some cardboard placeholder for the gop. i think it's time we get some respect in the white house again. the last 8 years were an insult to ANY civil libertarian. you cannot truthfully say to me or yourself that the party of mcblame will bring ANY reform to our nation -- they will only be emboldened by an upset victory and rape and pillage even more.
whenever the gop is down, all of sudden everyone likes to tout "other" party affiliations
there are only 2 options in any election, rarely 3, and that's just a reality we all have to contend with. see my comments to adambant above. i am leaving the bldg now so cannot remark further.
godspeed my friend, i do hope you are with me, as if you are not, you only bring this country more shame with McBlame.

Not ever close.
Insanity is not voting for the best candidate.
Insanity is voting against any candidate.
Insanity is not voting at all.
But it is not insane to vote for someone other than the two current power parties that have locked up our government.
