It's the Economy, People
copied this from an online debate with a friend as i was asserting that bank bailouts correlate highly with republican administrations, and well, this being 8th year under bush, it's all just point and fact & why I'm voting for OBAMA 2008
“i just saw your longer post, not sure how i missed that. there are always many different arguments to every point so not sure which one you'd want to debate first. my main point was the bank failures correlating highly with GOP administrations, from S&L bailouts under Reagan and now this insanity under Bush.
“After the market crash of 29 (harding/coolidge/hoover - 3 consecutive GOP presidents), Democrat FDR saved the economy and put in banking regulations and protections to keep it from happening again. Things you probably take for granted like FDIC insurance on your deposits and laws separating riskier investments from conservative banking -- which Reagan undid and we all paid for it, literally, as these taxpayer bailouts are far worse than any neo-socialist agenda the GOP always seem to "blame" about.
“After the Reagan-Bush I bailouts and then unprecedented federal deficit spending by their administrations, Clinton was brought it by the voters to set the economy straight, and he did,
2006 chart of government spending under each president
and more so, as he ended his 2 terms with an economic surplus -- blowing everyone's mind away! then bush 2 comes in and pisses it all away in a year, and dug us back even deeper into the hole Reagan made that Clinton reversed. It would have been nice to have Hillary do the job again Bill did, but now we have to count on Obama to save our economy again from the GOP date-rape politics
“ironically even that graph i posted just now is from 2006 and bush has actually made it even worse not better, so it's near 1/2-trillion mark now and we also just bailed out the mortgage firms and more to come. trust me, this is not partisan politics, this is pure and simple historical facts and figures, so wake up and smell the economy
