The Fabulous Destiny Of... an Indy/Marion fanmix.
Yeah yeah yeah, I'm all sorts of nerd right now. Anyway, on with the show.
Notes:
- The meaning of the song 'Starálfur' is honestly, up to the listener's interpretation. The song is Icelandic and 'Hopelandish' - a language that consists of made up words, a language that is made up by the band. To me, the song has a very nostalgic feel to it, which is why I used it in the context described in the summary.
-The version of 'A Sunday Smile' included in the fanmix is a live performance from 'Later...With Jools Holland'. Out of the various performances I have heard of the song, this feels the most emotional, especially if you have seen the performance video on YouTube.

-Apologies for the lack of link to lyrics to songs by One Happy Island & Existential Hero. They're lo-fi folk/twee pop bands & I haven't found any lyrics by them online.
-Lemme know if any of the links die, etc. &&& this is my first attempt at a fanmix, so yeah.
This fanmix attempts to follow the relationship of Marion Ravenwood and Indiana Jones, through all the trials and tribulations, heartache and pain, to eventual happiness. It begins at the University of Chicago, where they meet for the first time. Indy is a student under Marion's father. Both fighting their attraction, Indy & Marion try to keep their relationship strictly platonic. They know they shouldn't give into their feelings, but the tension is too much to take (The Clockwise Witness). Despite their attempts, they eventually cave in. They try to spend as much time as they can together, enjoying simple things, such as going to the library or going into the city (Potential). Abner eventually finds out and Indy is forced to end his relationship with Marion. Even though he wants to stay with her, he knows that it's what's best for both of them (A Sunday Smile). Without telling her, he leaves. Marion tries to convince herself that they were never really 'in love' in her attempt to get over him (Let It Die). He eventually does make his way back to her, although it isn't for reasons we hoped it would be. He knows that he should have looked for her, explained to her his reasons for leaving the first time, but he thought he was doing the right thing. Marion, even though she knows she shouldn't fall for him a second time, knows that she has always loved him, despite her 'learning to hate him in the last ten years' (Almost Spirited Away). They find themselves falling in love again, and the relationship lasts longer than Marion expected. Indy, however, still feels like he isn't good enough for her, even though all she needed was him. He, once again, runs away from commitment. Still, he wishes her success and happiness in whatever she chooses to pursue, unaware of the fact that he is not only leaving her, but his child as well (Girl Sailor). The years go by, and they both cannot help but think of each other. They think about their memories, both happy and sad. (Starálfur) Even though they are involved with other people, they can't help but wonder how things would have been if Indy had stayed. Despite their wandering thoughts and 'what-ifs', they never contact each other, other than one letter Indy sent to Marion a year after he left. It takes the Russians kidnapping Marion, and Mutt (who he later finds out his son) asking him for help to save her for them to finally see each other again. Indy knows his mistake, regrets it, but is damned lucky to be getting a third chance to make things right. He realizes that Marion has always been waiting for him, and he too, has been waiting for her (The Waiting). After the fiasco with the Russians and the crystal skull, they spend their time learning about each other, taking note the changes that have happened in the past twenty years. Despite the fact that Indy had left her twice, he seems to keep coming back. They can't help but acknowledge that they truly belong together & that they have the opportunity to make up for lost time (Til the End of Time).
