'Buildings inside the church of white.'
[it's always about the music.]

I'm not a music reviewer. I don't have the ability to pick out songs & describe them in words that fully describe the emotion conveyed by works of art. But I do believe that I have my moments where I can talk about a song where I don't say 'I can't describe it, it's just there.' So here's this, on one of the songs that I originally didn't really like:

I won't lie, this is one song off The Flying Club Cup that I didn't particularly enjoy - that is, until I watched the video from lablogotheque. I preferred that performance rather than the album version, mainly because it was just seemed prettier, beginning with simple string parts - ukulele. Then I come across this video, Beirut on Later...With Jools Holland. And while, for the most part, it's the same as the one on flyingclubcup.com, there's just something about it that I love even more than that video. It could be the shots, or the fact that at one point or another, all the members are singing along with Zach. Perhaps it's because the ukulele intro is just incredibly wonderful. No matter what it is, this performance is truly beautiful. Makes me wish I was in a band like this, it wouldn't matter if I sang, played ukulele, or a horn. It's music like this that makes me remember why I love music above all things.

And for some reason, Zach Condon looks incredibly beautiful.
