failure is an interesting thing. i've failed at many things throughout the years... things i've tried to do. but that's really the thing, i think... i tried to do them; you can't fail unless you try. sooo many people succeed in doing nothing, everyday... can you really say that they're better off? and it's not even just failure, it's recognizing that you've failed; there's so much experience just in that. i think a lot of experience comes from failure, and that most of wisdom comes from recognizing it. the more we try to do, the more we are bound to fail, but that's fine as long as we recognize and learn from it (and is definitely no reason to be depressed).
i'm just saying that failure gives us better knowledge of the world. i think knowledge of the world is a good thing, we need more intelligent people these days. however, we all know that facts are cold and hard, so let's keep 'em that way. the pessimist is going to tell you that the glass is half empty -- depressing. meanwhile, the optimist is going to tell you that the glass is half full -- delusional. the truly happy person is the one that accepts all of life's letdowns and in complete apathy says, "whatever, the glass is simply twice as large as it needs to be and there's alcohol in it that i'm going to drink."
since i've been working in the hospital, i've been looking at the people in the nursing home and have been realizing that we're still very young people, and we have a lot to learn. i think that sixty years from now, we'll appreciate the lessons learned from the mistakes of our youth.
i hope i haven't rambled too long. you're an awesome person, and i miss you.
