Ok, so far list of college stuff:
New York University/Tisch School of the Arts: Accepted (Strasberg studio)
Northwestern University (Chicago): Accepted
Boston Conservatory: Rejected
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor: Wait-listed Artistically, then rejected (go figure); accepted academically
Syracuse University: Rejected
Point Park University: Academically accepted, didn't audition in Chicago because I was
vomiting my heart out and couldn't do a walk-in
Ithaca College: Accepted into Acting BFA
Otterbein College: Rejected artistically, Accepted academically
Needless to say, this is probably the most unlikely list of colleges, but they all have musical theatre programs that I was interested in or just auditioning for to have more colleges on my list (or, in the case of Point Park, because Griffin wanted me to). I'm actually not as bummed out as I thought I would be for not making it into any MT programs...I did audition for pretty competitive schools and not enough of them. That being said, my acting acceptances were really good (NYU and Ithaca) and now I have really tough decisions. When I auditioned for NYU, I got my second choice, Strasberg (first was CAP 21), and actually I'm happy that I was placed in Strasberg because it has everything I want: an acting based curriculum with dance and music, and a chance to work with film acting, which I've been very interested in lately. NYU has been my #1 for so long and now that I'm accepted I'm dying to go. My financial aid statement has not come in for NYU yet, however, which I'm REALLY nervous about because I know that NYU is really bad with financial aid...but hopefully I get enough. I got into Northwestern with almost a full scholarship (everything minus $3,200), which is really good considering how hard it is to get into and how expensive it is. I also have, with merit and need based aid, a full ride to Ithaca. I would like to go to conservatory, and NYU has the strong conservatory/liberal arts balance, but Northwestern is also a really good theatre school and has prestige as well. Ithaca's program is not easy to get into as well. So...a lot of things are riding on how much aid/scholarships I will receive from NYU. I'm also going up to Northwestern at the end of the month for Preview NU (they're paying for all expenses, yay!) so I'll be able to make a wise decision in the end.
