Title: Why Kiss?
Pairing: Jinki/Jonghyun
Jinki was a perfectly normal person leading an ordinary life until he saw something he wasn’t supposed to see.
It was almost midnight but Jinki was still awake and studying hard. His stomach started to complain so he decided to have a quick break from studying but then he doesn’t find any food in his refrigerator or cabinets. He quickly changed into some casual clothes and went out to buy some food at a convenience store.
On his way to the convenience store, he saw something that he shouldn’t see. It was a dark, ugly, scary and evil-looking creature. Yup, it was a demon. Normal people aren’t supposed to see them, right? Anyway, the demon’s red eyes were looking straight at Jinki and started running towards him.
Jinki’s brain told him to run but Jinki’s body was frozen on the spot. The demon was fast so Jinki was pretty sure that even if he ran, the demon would surely still catch up with him and kill him or maybe play with him a bit before killing him.
A knight in shining armor came to Jinki’s rescue. Okay, that was exaggerating and Jinki refused to call himself a lady in distress because first of all, he wasn’t even a girl and second, that role would mostly suitable for Kibum.
Anyway, this handsome stranger successfully killed the demon in one blow. Jinki was about to sigh in relief but then other demons started showing up. One… two… three… Jinki stopped counting because more than three equals to many and many equals to more than ten and Jinki doesn’t want to think that there are 20 or more demons surrounding them.
“Stay close, I’ll protect you.” The handsome guy said with full confidence and winked at Jinki before killing the demons either with a gun or a sword but Jinki could tell those weapons were no ordinary weapons like a policeman’s gun or a samurai’s sword.
All of the demons lay dead on the ground covered with their red, green or black blood. Jinki’s body started to shake whether from fear or shock or both. Suddenly, he felt warm arms enveloped his body.
“There’s no need to be scared anymore. You’re safe now.” The stranger whispered against Jinki’s ear before lifting Jinki’s chin up and kissing him.

Jinki woke up on his bed in his room. He thought that everything that happened was probably just a dream.
But a few nights later, he saw demons again although this time the demons didn’t notice him so he quickly escape while he had the chance.
Then few nights later, he saw people’s ghosts and animal spirits.
Then a few nights later, he saw a fairy and a grim reaper making out.
(“Kyu! Don’t! Not here, somebody might see us.”
“Don’t worry, Sungmin. There are only humans around and they can’t see us.”
They proceeded to have a making-out session.)
But apparently, Jinki saw everything.

“Jonghyun-hyung, here’s your new student Jinki-hyung. Jinki-hyung, your mentor, Jonghyun-hyung.” Minho introduced them to each other. He was actually just a stranger passing by, observed that Jinki has the ability to see things so he recruited Jinki to be a demon hunter.
“Nice to see you again, Jinki.” Jonghyun recognized Jinki as the guy he saved and kissed a month ago. He offered his hand for a friendly handshake.
But instead of accepting the friendly handshake, Jinki slapped Jonghyun’s face. “That’s for stealing my first kiss.” Then later on, he regretted slapping Jonghyun. He should have punched Jonghyun instead because slapping are for girls and… well… his girly bestfriend, Kibum.
Minho could instantly tell that the two will get along… NOT.

Jinki simply fails at fighting demons. He gets nervous easily with his hands and knees shaking. His weapon easily gets knocked out from his hands. But he’s good at dodging and running… except for the times he becomes clumsy and slips on the floor or trips over a thing.
Jonghyun would always end up saving Jinki and instantly killed the demons.
“Hey, you alright?” Jonghyun asked.
“Yeah.” Jinki replied but before he could say something else, Jonghyun was kissing him again. After 3 seconds of getting over his shock, he pushed Jonghyun away from him and slapped him on the face painfully. “PERVERT!!!”
“Why don’t you try slapping demons for a change?” Jonghyun winced as he rubbed his sore cheek.
This becomes a routine. Jinki failing to fight, Jonghyun saving him by killing demons, Jonghyun gets turned on from killing demons, Jonghyun kissing him, Jinki pushing Jonghyun away and slapping him.

Jinki tries to change the routine.
“Jonghyun, don’t you dare kiss me.” Jinki was in a fighting stance, ready to protect his lips from being kissed by Jonghyun.
“I can’t believe this. You can fight with me but not with demons?” Jonghyun said exasperatedly. Then a smirk slowly started to form on his face. “You can’t win against me though.”
The next thing Jinki knew he was lying on the grass with Jonghyun on top of him…kissing him.
Jinki fails to change the routine.

One day, Jinki thought that the routine was going to change because they were facing a powerful demon this time around that even Jonghyun had a hard time fighting.
In the end, Jonghyun won the fight and successfully killed the demon but he was badly hurt. His legs gave up on him as he fell on the ground. He was bleeding a lot. His blood was pooling on the ground.
Jinki was crying as he hugged Jonghyun’s bloody form. “Please don’t die. Hang in there. Help is going to arrive soon.”
“Jinki, stop crying.” Jonghyun lifted his hand to wipe Jinki’s tears away but only ended up dirtying Jinki’s cheek with his own blood.
“It’s my fault. I should have been a better student. I should have been able to fight against demons and not be a burden. I should have helped you fight.” More tears fell from Jinki’s eyes as he continued to blame himself.
Jonghyun lifted his hand again. Using his last remaining strength, he pulled Jinki for a kiss.
For the first time, Jinki didn’t push him away.
For the first time, Jinki kissed back.
It’s because of that incident that Jinki found out that he has healing powers.

Jinki stopped trying to be a demon hunter and tried to lead a normal life. He was good at escaping, running and hiding from demons so he was mostly safe by himself but he does give Jonghyun a call from time to time asking him to get rid some annoying demons.
Jonghyun would still come and save him but after each fight, he would no longer approach Jinki for a kiss.
Jinki hated himself for expecting a kiss and feeling disappointed after not having any.
“Do you only kiss your students?” Jinki asked.
“No, I kiss people randomly after killing demons before I met you.” Jonghyun replied.
“So who have you been kissing lately?”
“After you, no one, really. I’ve just been jerking off my aroused feelings.”
Jinki can’t believe himself for feeling glad that Jonghyun hadn’t kissed anybody after him but still, a blush started to creep on Jinki’s cheeks as he yelled. “PERVERT!!!” He slapped Jonghyun.
“THAT’S exactly why I stopped kissing you. Your slap hurts a lot.” Jonghyun winced at the stinging sensation on his cheek.
“Seriously?” Jinki doesn’t entirely believe Jonghyun because he slapped him a lot of times and even fought with him but that never stopped Jonghyun from kissing him before.
“I want to know what it’s like to be kissed by you.”
“What are you talking about? We’ve kissed a lot of times.”
“For a change, I wanted you to initiate a kiss with me and not to push me away or to slap me. I also want us to kiss not because I was feeling aroused and turned on from killing demons. I don’t want you to think that I’m just using you as an outlet for my lustful feelings.” Jonghyun gave him a better explanation. He was looking shy and embarrassed, looking anywhere and everywhere except at Jinki.
So Jinki came to a conclusion. “You like me?”
Jonghyun’s eyes finally settled on Jinki. “Yeah.”

“Well, you obviously like him back.” Kibum said after listening to Jinki’s story. Although he gained a lot of shock after hearing about demons and laughed at Jinki’s usual fail and clumsy self when it came to fighting them off and raised an eyebrow after hearing that Jonghyun saved and kissed his bestfriend multiple times.
“I don’t like that pervert!!!” Jinki was blushing madly.
“Sure, you do.” Kibum started to point out the things Jinki didn’t notice about himself. “You’ve been longing for his kiss since he stopped.”
Jinki’s eyes widened. “I’m not!!!”
“Denial.”
“Fine. What else?” Jinki pouted.
“You have a lovesick face.”
“I DO NOT!!!”
“Denial again.”
“I really don’t… ugh!! Nevermind.” There was no point arguing with Kibum.
“You miss being with him. You’re jealous at the idea of him kissing others. You hugged and kissed him while he was bleeding to death. I definitely wouldn’t do that to you if you were bleeding to death.”
“Well, that’s because you’ll faint at the sight of blood.” Jinki mumbled.

“What are you doing here?” Jinki was surprised to see Jonghyun standing right in front of him. He was expecting Kibum and maybe some other classmate to visit him at his house but never Jonghyun.
Jonghyun didn’t answer the question. He simply stated. “It’s been three weeks since you called… since we’ve last seen each other.”
“Well… yeah… but I’m not avoiding you!!! There’s just haven’t been any demons that I couldn’t handle lately… and it’s been peaceful… and we had midterm exams last week…” After seeing Jonghyun’s look which clearly said that he didn’t believe a single thing Jinki said, Jinki stopped denying. “Yeah, I’ve been avoiding you. Sorry.”
“Was it because of my confession?”
“Yeah.”
“I’d prefer if you’ll just directly reject me instead of just avoiding me. That would give me a closure.”
Jonghyun waited for Jinki’s rejection but Jinki simply opened the door wider. “I was about to make dinner. Would you like to have dinner with me?”
Jonghyun blinked. “Well, okay.” He figured that Jinki would probably reject him after dinner. He might as well eat and be rejected with a full stomach. He helped with preparing the dining table. After that, he sat on a chair and simply watched Jinki cooking their dinner.
“It’s good that you came.” Jinki broke the silence in between them. “I’ve always wanted to ask you out for dinner but I couldn’t bring myself to do it and maybe because I was hoping that you’d be the one to ask me out.”
“Really?” Jonghyun wondered if Jinki was hinting that… he liked Jonghyun back?
“You must be hungry! Dinner is almost ready!”
Both of them found it weird to be simply eating dinner together not from killing demons or with Minho. Plus, this was the food Jinki cooked. After dinner, they washed the dishes together and attacked each other with water and dish soap. They successfully finished washing the dishes but they ended up wetting and dirtying the floor, which they mopped it to be sparkling clean again.
“I think I could get used to this… us… dating.”
“We’re… dating?”
“Consider this as our first date.” Jinki said firmly as lead Jonghyun towards the front door of his house. “And here’s your goodnight kiss.” Jinki leaned in and pressed his lips against Jonghyun’s.
Jonghyun wrapped his arms around Jinki’s waist as he kissed back. He was half expecting for Jinki to push him away but Jinki only kissed deeper, exploring Jonghyun’s mouth for the first time. So far, this had been their longest kiss. They were both in daze and panting hard as they pulled apart.
“Kiss me again?” Jonghyun asked for a second kiss.
Jinki laughed and stepped back. “Tomorrow. Fetch me at school.”
“You’ll kiss me in front of your school?” Jonghyun raised an eyebrow, liking the idea.
“No!!!” Jinki blushed. “I’ll kiss you after you walk me home from school.”
“Okay. Looking forward to that.” Jonghyun quickly stole a kiss on Jinki’s pouty lips before walking out.
Both of them hoping for tomorrow to come by quickly.
