Pairing: Shindong/Shindong
Written: 4th fic
Shindong got his first crush when he was 10 years old.
He picked up a rose from his neighbor’s garden and gave it to his crush, who cruelly threw the rose back at Shindong. She didn’t like him because he was chubby.
Shindong got his 2nd crush when he was in 1st year high school. He was still fat. He knew that a lot of girls like him but only as a friend. He was labeled as the “best friend” type of guy. He gave a rose to his crush when the school year almost ends because just in case he got rejected, he can mope as much as he likes all throughout the summer break. Therefore, his studies won’t be affected.
Shindong wasn’t exactly rejected. It was just revealed that his 2nd crush was actually a cross dresser. The truth was…Heechul is a guy. “I’m flattered but I’m sure you don’t really swing that way.” Heechul said as he accepted the rose. And so, they just became good friends after that incident.
Because of that incident, Shindong also started to question his sexuality. His 3rd crush was very manly, sexy and…straight.
“Siwon, I have a crush on you.”
“Hahaha! You’re such a joker, Shindong.”
Then a rose appeared in front of Siwon’s face. “It’s just a crush but please accept this. I’m not courting you or asking you to be my boyfriend. I know you’re far too straight for that kind of thing.”
Siwon was kind and accepted the rose gratefully. He thought that it was a weird incident but didn’t let it affect their friendship. It was Siwon, who would often bring Shindong to the gym, and they would work out together.
By Shindong’s 4th and final year of high school, he wasn’t exactly as muscular or sexy as Siwon but he did lost a lot of fat. He wasn’t classified as overweight anymore. He gained some admirers and roses from them, girls or boys. He was too used to getting rejected because of his weight and fat that he didn’t think he would gain admirers if he was still fat so he remained single. He wanted someone who would love him despite his appearance.
The exams are finally over. The only reason they go to school now is graduation practice. Shindong decided to clean up his locker and bring his books and other school stuff home. But when he opened his locker, he found a single rose laying innocently on top of his books. The rose has a small tag with the name “Shindong” printed on it. He just thought of it coming from one of his admirers.
The next day, Shindong doesn’t have any reason to open his locker. It should probably be empty right now but he really wondered if his admirer placed something in the locker again. After the graduation practice, he decided to check out his locker and saw another rose with an envelope.
Inside the envelope were pictures of him from his childhood until now, from being overweight to being normal. Then lastly was a letter…
I’ve always liked you but I couldn’t tell you that before. Heck, I couldn’t even talk to you because my Korean isn’t good and I’m afraid I’ll only make a fool of myself in front of you. What attracted me to you the most is that you’re a great dancer, even though you were chubby, and you remained as a kind person, even though a lot of people always teased and bullied you for being fat. You’ve always been very honest with your feelings. Physical appearance never mattered to you so I hope language wouldn’t matter to you too because I’m Chinese. By writing this letter, I even asked helped from Heechul. I’m sure you’ve figured out who I am by now. After all, Heechul only has one close Chinese friend.
