Reunited At The Sideline

Chapter 4

Thee days later. It is Saturday of Chrono’s 3rd week vacation. Without seeing or speaking to Kisho for three consecutive days, he used his time to exercise some more and play computer or PS games and to forcing himself to sleep some more so he could get rid of his insomnia. For this morning, the doorbell rang and he received an unexpected visitor.

It was Kisho holding up a plain white envelope. He opened it and the things inside it. “You think that I would forgive and start hanging out with you again just because you gave me tickets of my favorite band’s concert with VIP seats and backstage passes to meet with them?!?!?! So you‘re starting to use your money now to buy our friendship?”

Chrono blinked as the wheels in his mind are starting to turn. “Ah…” He remembered now. “Happy Birthday.” He greeted not in a dead tone but also not in an enthusiastic manner.

Now it was Kisho’s turn to blink. “What?”

“It’s your birthday today or have you forgotten?”

“Oh…right…” Kisho had obviously forgotten.

“I reserved and ordered those tickets and backstage passes last week as a birthday present for you but seeing as we’re not in good terms right now, you can take somebody else with you to the concert or sell the tickets or whatever you want to do with it.” Chrono congratulated himself for speaking casually.

“You don’t want these back?” Kisho asked.

Chrono shook his head. “It’s a gift for you. It’s basically yours.”

Kisho looked thoughtful for a moment. “Want to go to the concert with me?”

“No. We haven’t spoke to each other for three days and two days before that, we weren’t in good terms. I’m afraid I’ll just ruin your birthday.” Chrono sounded truly concern. “Besides, you obviously haven’t forgiven me yet seeing as how angry you were the moment I opened this door.”

“Well, you’re right about that and thanks for these.” With that, Kisho walked away.

At night, before the concert started, he got to meet up with a person from his past. // First, it was Faolan. Now, it’s Hadriel. I wonder if fate, destiny or the gods somewhere up there are playing with me.//

First, Faolan. He’s the hot guy, the customer in the flower shop and also Kisho’s 2nd ex-boyfriend. He managed to maintain the nice shape and muscles of his body until now and also loves to show off how fit he is by wearing tight shirts and pants. He always use gel to keep his dark brown hair off his face. His hair always stood up in different styles.

Second, Hadriel. Kisho’s 1st ex-boyfriend. He used to be thin and skinny as he has always been sickly but now, he turned out to have a nice built too. He used to have one-length hair and eyeglasses which really made him look like a nerd but now, he looks emo. An emo hairstyle which consists on long bangs that covered his left eye. His black hair had some red streaks. He is also clearly wearing eyeliner. Not to mention, his fingernails are manicured in a black color.

Right now, Kisho could see the Hadriel is with a group of friends. He groaned as he saw that one of Hadriel’s friends is Faolan. Kisho just wished that they wouldn’t see him. He’s alone right now because the only friends that he made after college are those whom he met in clubs and other wild parties. He doesn’t really have any contact with any of those people unless they would actually see each other. Then the concert started and his thoughts about his ex-boyfriends were thrown out of his mind.

It was until the concert was over that his wish didn’t come true. After speaking with the band and getting an autograph and taking pictures, he started to make his way out of the concert hall. There were a few people left. Unfortunately, Hadriel and his friends were there as well. Faolan got to notice him. “Hey, Kisho!” He made his way towards Kisho.

Kisho pretended not to hear his name being called as he swiftly made his way through the exit. At least his 2nd wish came true, which is to escape. It was almost 11pm when he arrived in his house. Then as soon as he opened his door. “SURPRISE!!!” The lights turned out. Confetti. Party hats. People, he used to hang out with back in high school and college. Kisho was indeed surprise.

Skyler approached Kisho and lead the birthday boy to the kitchen, where the cake with lighted candles were. Then the people began to sing the happy birthday song. They let Kisho blow the candles and the party began!!! There was loud music and different lighting. Kisho’s house was almost like a club. Different groups of people would gather in a table and get to know each other. Snacks and drinks were being passed around seeing as how late it was to serve dinner. Kisho would move from one table to another to catch up with his long time no see friends. Eventually, he landed on the three rivals table with Castor and Skyler’s best friends: Darwin and Kyler. Darwin is Kisho’s boss, anyway.

“Too bad we’re not complete. Where’s Chrono, anyway?” Rascor asked, which earned him to be elbowed by Xien, who obviously know the reason why Chrono wasn’t here.

“Who planned this?” Kisho asked. He had a feeling that one of them did it.

The guys on the table remained silent except for one, who really didn’t know anything. “Chrono did.” Rascor piped up. “It’s ironic that he’s the one not here right now. He can’t possibly be busy with work. I mean it’s your birthday and also serves as a reunion with our high school friends. Ow!” Rascor was hit by Xien with a rolled newspaper. Nobody really knows where the newspaper came from.

“That guy…” Kisho clenched his fists. The guys on the table were afraid that Kisho might blow up on them. “I’m gonna get him!!!” They all breathed a sigh of relief when Kisho left in a hurry.

“For a moment there, I thought we were going to be killed just because we are Chrono’s friends and contacts.” Kyler said and wiped a sweat off his forehead.

“Rascor’s fault for mentioning Chrono.” Skyler replied, picking up some French fries on the plate.

“Hey! Ow!” Rascor was going to say something else when he was flicked on the forehead by Xien’s finger.

“I hope they’re going to be okay.” Castor said and the rest nodded.

“Don’t you think it’s too late to be visiting at this hour?” Chrono asked. It looks like he just woke up from being asleep as his hair is in disarray and he had sleepy eyes. He’s also just wearing sando and boxers and fluffy bunny slippers.

Kisho eyed the guy up and down. “I was thinking that you look hot right now but those bunny slippers changed my mind. Those are new?” He smirked.

Chrono blushed. “It’s comfy for my feet. What are you doing here anyway?”

“You said you didn’t want to ruin my birthday. Well, you ruined it by not showing up at the party which you’ve planned to begin with so why don’t you change your clothes and let’s go.” Kisho invited himself inside the house and pushed Chrono towards the room.

“You’re not drunk, are you?” Chrono asked as he let himself be pushed.

They reached inside Chrono’s room. “No.” Kisho replied and turned Chrono’s body so they would face each other. “I’m not angry at you anymore and after all the things you’ve done for me today, I can’t help but forgive you. Our fight wasn’t entirely your fault since I was keeping secrets from you and we’ll have to talk about those in another day or perhaps tom. Right now, I want you to be present at my birthday party so change by yourself or I might jump on you if I’ll help you in changing your clothes.”

“You can just stay there. I’ll just wear a pants and jacket on. No stripping would be going on.” Chrono said as he took his pants and jacket out of the closet and swiftly wore them. “Okay, ready. Let’s go?”
