I just watched the Japanese Advant-garde film, 'Bara no Soretsu', also known as 'Funeral Parade of Roses'.
It came out in the late '60s and greatly influenced 'A Clockwork Orange'.
It's a Japanese gay take on the well known Oedipus story.
Quite a startling movie actually.
I damn well liked it to.
Although the lead role played by Crossdressing Japanese actor, 'Peter' (played the fool in Kurosawa's 'RAN'), looked startling like Jiro....like the exact same face. I suppose it's a face that allows one to crossdress easily.
Very boyish yet with the right makeup very feminine.
I need to find a good screencap so I can show you what I'm talking about.
I kinda had to get used to it at first.
Hyula! This is definitely a film you and I need to watch!
I wonder if I can find it in Athens. (DVDs are so expensive here)
