Soulshine's First Show

Jan 22, 2006 23:49

Friday night, Rob and I played our first show as Soulshine. It was a small acoustic set for an acoustic battle of the bands that a local music store is doing. Unfortunately, we lost because the other band had 5 people and they all had their families. I'm confident we would have had a fighting chance if the weather was as shitty as it was.

Anyway, we played our set, which consisted of Hoobastank - Running Away, Audioslave - I Am The Highway, and an original song, Goodbye. I think a lot of the crowd really dug our Goodbye song, which I'm really proud of. The funniest moment was, as me and Rob were stepping of the stage, 3 kids came up to me and wanted my autograph. I thought that was really funny and I was really flattered. Of course, I gave it to them. It was really a good experience, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out, considering it was our first show. I only hope it continues to go good. Hopefully we'll start to get band members to turn out, because we still need a drummer, bass player, and Rob wants to bring in a second guitarist. Ideally, we want to bring in a third guitar and maybe a DJ to do some scratching, but we'll see.

Anyway, that's my update for the month. Oh yeah, the guy in charge of the battle of the bands said that we can come back and play in February because the weather was so bad. So we're still in the battle. Hopefully our next show will really bring in the votes.
