My first Cataract Surgery (and the after arrive at home nap) is over! Things went very well. There is a slight scratchyness in the eye but that is about all. If I cover my right eye I can almost read the screen without glasses. According to the van driver I managed to be the only person he knows that felt a brief flash of pain when they inserted the lens - but it was brief and hardly what I would call intense. Less bothersome than getting the IV.
For the next 24 hours I'm to keep my closed as much as possible and blink frequently when they are open. Add putting in eye drops every 12 hours and wearing a plastic shield to protect my eye while sleeping for the next few weeks and that's about all the after care fall out. For anyone getting this done who is on Medicare, I STRONGLY advise having a secondary insurance. My eye-drop prescription alone totals $170 after insurance and I'm probably going to be refilling that. Lets not talk about surgery co-pay.
